Giantmouse Sonoma Disassembly & Maintenance - Pocketknife Cleaning with Ballistol and Wiha Tools

The Giantmouse Sonoma is one the best pocketknives that I ever had. I use this blade all the time for all sorts of exceptionally dumb things. So now, it has a tummy ache. Its action got gritty and flipping it open became really difficult.

This means that it needs some well-deserved spa-time AKA disassembly to clean out the stuff stuck inside. Since the Sonoma was manufactured by Reate Knives every hole is precisely milled and the T-8 hardware is super high quality. Thanks to them, I had a very easy time with both the takedown and the reassembly. And besides wiping the parts clean with Ballistol and lubing it up I did not need to swap out anything.

To celebrate my success, I also put on these funny lanyard beads from Viperade using some Galaxy Blue paracord. Then I sealed the deal with a diamond knot and my 45-degree melting technique. Plus, I put up a shiny new edge with my Worksharp Precision Adjust sharpening system which is my favorite way to maintain modern super steels such as M390.

And I really like keeping this thing ready for action.
