The Fight for New York - Battle of Long Island, 1776 ( American Revolution )

On 27 Aug. 1776, British troops attacked American forces stationed on the western end of Long Island, in present-day Brooklyn. By that evening many Americans had been captured, killed, or driven further west. The British then lay siege to the American position on Brooklyn Heights.
