Tony and I hit the water for one last trip before the fall temperatures set in. It wasn’t the perfect fishing day—we were running low on bait, and the fish weren’t biting much—but we pushed through and managed to catch a few. One catch stood out: a gut-hooked flathead catfish. I can only hope it survives, as there’s not much you can do in that situation besides cutting the line or keeping the fish for a meal.
