Jesus' Successful 'Battle' against the Fake Leaders of Israel – Mark 11:1–33

In this brief excerpt from the course, Jesus and Myth, Dr. Barber discusses the successful ‘battle’ that Jesus Christ wages against the fake leaders, the false shepherds of Israel, when He arrives in Jerusalem after His 'triumphal entry' prior to His crucifixion.

Jesus literally fulfills the prophecies of Jeremiah 7–8 against the faithless leaders of Israel, against the corruption of the Temple in Jerusalem.

Jesus' 'battle' is not the battle of myth, of myth-culture, but the opposite of that. At this time, Israel's leaders suffer the defeat expected in the pattern of myth-culture, while Jesus does not conform to the pattern of myth, but subverts it with His own unique, truly divine pattern. Jesus successfully 'battles' the leaders of the myth-culture and defeats them.

Jesus alone is not mythological. Are you trusting in the one true God, Jesus Christ our LORD? Or are you trusting in mythological gods, and the leaders of the myth-culture of this fallen world?
