LRCC Christmas Paddle on the Little Pee Dee River

The LRCC Polar Club, group of dedicated paddlers braving the cold waters and obstacles. I get asked alot what is the best for running the rivers that we explore, considering downfall and portage, winter conditions, etc, my answer is pretty simple, what you feel best paddling, confince in your skills and boat is more important that what you decide, be it kayak, canoe , single blade, double blade, keel, displacement , displacement, etc... each has it's advantages and disadvantages, but in my experience, a displacement hull is the best general, you bounce or slide off obstacles.
