Months after Sheikh Hasina’s removal as Prime Minister, Bangladesh has initiated a move to erase the image of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the nation’s founding leader, from its currency notes. New Taka notes, featuring elements commemorating the July uprising, will replace the existing ones. These redesigned notes will highlight religious landmarks, cultural motifs, and graffiti from the protests that ousted Hasina and brought Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus to power as Chief Adviser.
