This is a track from The Voice Of Reason, our 48th album, recorded in August 2021. Dedicated to Will Witt (+ Rocky), Amala Ekpunobi and Taylor Trandahl of Prager University.

I used to live in Ohio where my father ran the local village store
but then the socialists took control and now we cannot live there anymore.
They raised our taxes, added new laws and now the Constitution’s history.
Unions rule now God is dead so this is no longer the land of the free.
It’s a crying shame and I know we’re to blame now Americans have lost their liberty
and each morning from Seattle to Minneapolis
you can hear children sing their new school hymn.

We go to learn each day, to work and rest and play.
We listen to the noble words that all the teachers say.
We love our life of equity where everyone is equal;
where no-one is offended and no insults form a sequel.
Yes, we are all so different in colour and in name,
that’s why we clap and cheer that everybody is the same.

We celebrate diversity: the black and brown and gay;
secure in all our safe spaces where everyone can stay.
We see the world about us from a brave and bold perspective:
so happy we participate in a socialist collective.
Yes, we are all so different in colour and in name,
that’s why we clap and cheer that everybody is the same.

Now God is dead so this is no longer the land of the free.
It’s a crying shame and I know we’re to blame now Americans have lost their liberty.
God bless America, land that I love...
