Annapolis community remembers Gazette staff
Thursday afternoon at 2:33, marked exactly one week since the fatal mass shooting at the Capital Gazette. Continuing a week of events and memorials paying respect to those who tragically lost their lives, two ceremonies were held. One at the police station in Millersville and another at the Flag Court at the Arundel Center in Annapolis, each with flags flying at half staff. County worker Janet Morgan attended to express her feelings; "To join all of the employees and try to demonstrate how sad we are and what a horrible event this has been." On the 4th of July, Charm City Run held a benefit walk for the Capital Gazette workers effected by the shooting. It was a 3 to 5 mile walk and more than 600 people showed up. "We raised $15,000 with a $5,000 match." Kelly Maurer is with Charm City Run. The fund raiser was so successful that they will keep donations open until 8 o'clock Thursday night. "It effects so many people. So many people were a part of this and we just wanted to figure a way to give back and also bring the community back and help with healing." Those here vowing to do what they can to help the community heal.
