French President Emmanuel Macron struck an optimistic tone on Tuesday despite the looming collapse of PM Michel Barnier’s government.

Speaking during a state visit to Saudi Arabia, Macron told reporters he “does not believe” the government will fall, as lawmakers back home prepare to vote on a no-confidence motion, French media reported. He also dismissed growing calls for his resignation from politicians across the political spectrum and said he will serve out his second term in full.
