On June 19th, 2024, officers responded to a crash site following reports of a Hyundai Tucson that had crashed into a restaurant. The driver was identified as a college football player for Cleveland Browns. Both him and his girlfriend denied medical assistance while refusing to cooperate. The female passenger didn’t give any solid answers to the crash investigation questions. The officers then tried collecting witness accounts to make sense of the incident.
The male was very agitated and had watery, blood-shot eyes, droopy eyelids, and a strong odour of alcohol coming from his breath. After much confrontation the male reluctantly agreed to perform the field sobriety test. The male was acting ridiculous and kept throwing his hands in the air and rushing the officers to do what they had to do. The supervising officer had had enough of the suspect’s nuisance and he decided to intervene. The suspect claimed he could not count and eventually performed a casual stroll next to the line not even resembling what the officer instructed him to do. The suspect was taken to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Key West jail facility where he urinated on himself and declined to provide a breath sample. He was released by the Cleveland Browns following his arrest and was charged with driving under the influence causing property damage.
