Sí bien Argentina ya había sido elegida en 1971 para ser sede del mundial 78, la junta militar compuesta por Jorge Videla, Eduardo Massera y Orlando Agosti se encontraba con ese compromiso. El documental en cada capítulo a través de imágenes inéditas, testimonios exclusivos y dramatizaciones, la producción deja al descubierto cómo el fútbol se convirtió en una herramienta de propaganda para el gobierno de facto, mientras que en paralelo sucedían actos de represión y violaciones a los derechos humanos.
"Queríamos recrear realmente lo que había ocurrido en el Mundial 78" Explicó Lucas Bucci, uno de los guionistas y directores, en una charla con Filo.news.
“No queríamos contar esta historia diciendo ‘Argentina salió campeón durante una dictadura’, sino que queríamos decir: ‘Durante una dictadura, Argentina salió campeón’. Parece lo mismo pero no lo es, porque una cosa es anteponer que Argentina salió campeón para luego contar todo lo que pasó, y otra cosa es ir siguiendo paso a paso”.
Un impactante Documental con archivos recuperados y más de 30 entrevistas nacionales e internacionales. Cada capítulo de la serie refleja de forma contundente lo profundo de ese momento vivido, hechos que permanecen en la memoria colectiva y debates encontrados que perduran hasta la actualidad.

"We wanted to really recreate what had happened in the World Cup 78" explained Lucas Bucci, one of the scriptwriters and directors, in a chat with Filo.news.
“We didn’t want to tell this story by saying ‘Argentina won the championship during a dictatorship’, but rather we wanted to say: ‘During a dictatorship, Argentina won the championship’. It seems the same thing but it isn’t, because one thing is to say that Argentina won the championship and then tell everything that happened, and another thing is to follow it step by step.”
