In a heart-wrenching case that unfolded in a courtroom on December 3, 2024, Jamie Lee Komoroski, 25, pleaded guilty to multiple charges after a devastating crash that killed newlywed Samantha Miller and seriously injured her husband, Aric Hutchinson. The incident occurred in April 2023, just hours after Aric and Samantha were married. The couple, along with two others, were traveling in a golf cart decorated with cans and a "just married" sign when Komoroski, who was driving at 65 mph in a 25 mph zone, struck them.
Komoroski was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.261%, more than three times the legal limit, and had refused to take a sobriety test. She faced charges including felony DUI, DUI with great bodily harm, and reckless homicide, ultimately agreeing to a plea deal just before the trial was set to begin. This tragedy has left a family and a community grieving as the legal process comes to a close.
