More Trouble for France: Govt to Fall as Protests Increase
Taxi Drivers in France protest against unpopular new Budget. The Budget was rammed through by Prime Minister Michel Barnier, without parliamentary approval. This has caused the National Rally party to pull support from Barnier's minority government, and they have asked for a no-confidence vote. Barnier may lose power on Wednesday, less than 3 months after he took office. The political chaos in France is a result of President Emmanuel Macron's decision to hold snap elections in June. His troubles keep mounting. He is already facing regular farmer protests, the current cab driver protest, and there is a government worker strike and an energy sector strike scheduled for Thursday. The fall of the Barnier government will just be icing on the cake.
