Today we are discussing the Leg Lamp monument in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

The Chickasha Leg Lamp is a sculpture, which is 40 feet tall and stands on a 10-foot box, is modeled after the infamous prop that appeared in A Christmas Story. The Leg Lamp is a must-see stop for fans of the classic movie or of wacky roadside attractions in general. It is open to the public and is lit up at night, so it can be seen any time. And make sure to stop by the Downtown Mercantile & Visitor Center, which sells both locally made products and officially licensed A Christmas Story merchandise.

Plan a trip to Chickasha, located in central Oklahoma, for year-round excitement. The city is perhaps best known for its annual Festival of Light, a stunning holiday light display featuring 3.5 million twinkling lights held at Shannon Springs Park. Recognized as one of the top ten holiday light shows in the nation, this annual event takes place daily from the day after Thanksgiving through the end of the year. Other must-see seasonal attractions include the Brown's Farm and Garden and its u-pick pumpkin patch, open each fall, and the Grady County Farmers Market, open from May through October.

Art abounds in Chickasha, which is home to six large murals spread throughout town, including one at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. While in Chickasha, learn about the city’s past with a trip to the Verden Separate School and the Grady County Museum. Catch a show at the Chickasha Community Theatre or visit the quirky Muscle Car Ranch for over 30 acres of neon and porcelain signs, open-air displays of rare muscle cars and bikes, and folk art.
