Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during Question Period on Tuesday called President-elect Donald Trump's concerns over Canada's weak border security an "erroneous narrative."

After Opposition leader Pierre Poilievre commented Trudeau has lost control of his leadership and is unable to secure the border, Trudeau retorted, "I think the leader of the opposition needs to reflect carefully on whether he really wants to amplify the erroneous narratives the Americans are putting forward, around, for example, our border."

The prime minister went on to claim the number of illegal drugs and migrants entering the US from its norther border are actually very low, despite the incoming president's recent observations.

"Breaking things is not responsible," retorted Poilievre.

"That's what he's been doing for nine years. My job is not to cover that up for him."
