In 2010, a seasoned mountaineer was left for dead at the summit of Mount Everest after a harrowing climb. Suffering from severe altitude sickness and exhaustion, he was unable to continue. After falling unconscious, his expedition team, believing he was beyond help, was forced to leave him behind.
