Scholz Makes Surprise Visit to Ukraine After Putin Call, Russia Hopes Trump 'Doesn’t Incite War’

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited Ukraine for the first time in two and a half years. Scholz pledged an additional 650 million euros ($680 million) in military support to Ukraine by December-end. The package includes IRIS-T air defence systems, Leopard 1 tanks and armed drones, a German defence ministry spokesperson said. The Kremlin said Scholz was not carrying a message to Zelensky from Russian President Vladimir Putin. Scholz held his first phone call with Putin in November for the first time in almost two years, which Zelensky had criticised as “a Pandora’s box.”
