Zechariah 11 – The two staffs: their meanings and how prevalent they are in reference to our Messiah
Zec 11:7
So I pastured the flock doomed to slaughter, hence the afflicted of the flock. And I took for myself two staffs: the one I called Favor, and the other I called Union; so I pastured the flock.
Zechariah says he pastured the flock doomed to slaughter, as did Yeshua Messiah. He shepherded the afflicted of the flock.
Matt. 11:5 the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM.
James 2:5 Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?
Zechariah took two staffs for shepherding. One is called Favor (or pleasantness), the other is called Union. Favor and unity is what Elohim wants for His people.
Psalm 133:1-3 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity! 2It is like the precious oil upon the head, Coming down upon the beard, Even Aaron’s beard, Coming down upon the edge of his robes. 3It is like the dew of Hermon, Coming down upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing—life forever.
John 17:20-23 “I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; 21that they may all be one; even as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me. 22“And the glory which Thou hast given Me I have given to them; that they may be one, just as We are one; 23I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, that the world may know that Thou didst send Me, and didst love them, even as Thou didst love Me.
Zec 11:8
Then I annihilated the three shepherds in one month, for my soul was impatient with them, and their soul also was weary of me.
Elohim says He destroyed three shepherds in one month. I do not know what this means. It could be a reference to the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Scribes who falsely led Judah. They hated Elohim
John 15:22-25 “If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23“He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24“If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well. 25“But they have done this in order that the word may be fulfilled that is written in their Law, ‘THEY HATED ME WITHOUT A CAUSE.’
