### Review: Nitecore NPL25 Light/Laser Combo
The Nitecore NPL25 GL Tactical Light/Laser Combo combines innovative features and practical design in a compact, durable package. Sent to me by Nitecore for review, this tactical light aims to deliver high performance for everyday tactical applications and professional use. As always, this review is honest and unbiased, conducted in a controlled environment with safety protocols in place, and it adheres to YouTube’s community guidelines.
### Key Features
The NPL25 GL is packed with features that cater to tactical and general-use needs:
- UHi 20 LED: Produces a bright 900 lumens—perfect for smaller firearms and short to moderate distances.
- Beam Performance: Utilizes Precision Digital Optics Technology (PDOT) and a crystal coating to deliver a precise and focused beam. It boasts a beam throw of up to 255 meters with a peak intensity of 16,000cd.
- Rechargeable Convenience: Features a built-in Li-ion battery with a 35-minute runtime and magnetic charging for hassle-free recharging.
- Durable Build: Made from aero-grade aluminum with a military-grade hard-anodized finish, it’s designed to withstand harsh conditions.
- Compact and Lightweight: Portable and easy to mount without adding unnecessary bulk.
- Temperature Regulation: Equipped with an Advanced Temperature Regulation (ATR) module to manage heat during extended use.
- Recoil-Proof Design: Built to handle high-stress environments and rapid-fire scenarios.
- User-Friendly Controls: Dual tail buttons offer intuitive, easy access to the light and laser functions.
- Weather and Impact Resistant: Rated IPX6 for water and dust resistance, and designed to handle drops of up to 1 meter.
### Performance Highlights
#### Brightness and Beam
The NPL25 GL provides a clear, bright 900-lumen output that makes target acquisition easy, even in low-light conditions. The beam is precise and focused, ideal for tactical use where clarity is essential. The PDOT technology ensures consistent illumination, whether mounted on a handgun, rifle, or tactical gear.
#### Build and Durability
This light is built tough. The aero-grade aluminum and military-grade anodized finish ensure it’s both durable and lightweight, making it an excellent choice for high-stress scenarios. The IPX6 rating adds peace of mind for use in wet or dusty conditions, though it’s not submersible.
#### Convenience Features
The magnetic charging function is a standout feature, eliminating the hassle of battery swaps. However, with a runtime of just 35 minutes, ensuring the battery is fully charged before extended operations is critical. Despite its compact size, the light holds up well during extended range sessions, thanks to its temperature regulation system.
### Observations from the Range
Taking the NPL25 GL to the range demonstrated its capabilities. The 900-lumen output provided excellent visibility, and the beam’s focused intensity made short to medium-range target acquisition smooth. The recoil-proof design ensured reliability through rapid-fire drills, while the Advanced Temperature Regulation kept the light cool during prolonged use.
One issue I noticed was a slight play in the mounting mechanism. Even when secured tightly, pressing the on/off switch caused a minimal shift in the laser’s point of impact. While not a dealbreaker for general use, it’s something to consider if precision is paramount.
### Pros and Cons
#### Pros:
- Bright 900-lumen output for excellent visibility.
- Compact and lightweight, ideal for mounting.
- Magnetic charging system simplifies power management.
- Durable, weather-resistant design with IPX6 rating.
- Recoil-proof and equipped with temperature regulation for consistent performance.
#### Cons:
- Runtime of 35 minutes limits extended operations.
- Slight play in the mount affects laser accuracy.
- IPX6 waterproofing is adequate but not robust enough for submersion.
### Final Thoughts
The Nitecore NPL25 GL is a reliable and versatile tactical light/laser combo. Its combination of powerful illumination, durable construction, and convenient charging makes it suitable for various applications. While the runtime and slight mounting play may require some consideration, the overall performance and ease of use make it a solid addition to any tactical setup.
