Dwiptanil Bhattacharjee is a sarod player and music teacher.
Dwiptanil belongs to Kolkata.
Recalling his childhood, Dwiptanil says that he was like every other child. He used to go to school, practice music, and play with his friends. As his father too is a musician, he grew up in a musical environment. He started learning music from his father when he was two and a half, and at the age of five, from his guru, for which he traveled 60 kms every Sunday from Chakda to Kolkata. Presently, he is learning under the guidance of Ustad Aashish Khan.
Talking about his achievements, Dwiptanil shares that in 2008, he was invited to perform in the golden jubilee celebrations of the Ramakrishna Mission. Thereafter, he performed at many national and international concerts. In 2013, he gave a performance in Bangladesh, and in 2016, he was invited to Japan. He was also invited to teach an army band as a guest instructor. Besides music, he has a Master's in Physics and Instrumental Music from Rabindranath Tagore University. He has started teaching at his guru’s school, the Aashish Khan School of World Music.
Speaking about his mistakes, Dwiptanil says that he trusted people blindly, which was a mistake. He believes that if we believe in our capabilities and knowledge, no one can stop us from being successful.
When asked about his role models, Dwiptanil mentions his guru maa, Vidushi Ameena Perera, who has always been patient with him, his guru Ustad Aashish Khan, and his father, who is still learning at this age and is an inspiration to him.
Dwiptanil’s life mantra is to work hard and keep patience; success will definitely come along, he believes.
To all the budding artists, Dwiptanil advises them to learn under proper guidance from a guru and practice a lot.
