Summertime is the best season of the year unless it’s scorching hot. Then it can become uncomfortable. The heat makes us feel uneasy and the touch of sun in the middle of the day burns the skin to an extent it really becomes unbearable. Not only humans dislike such a hot weather but animals, too. No living creature can remain impervious to the roasting and protruding sun rays. That’s why we try to avoid the sun as much as we can. Cold water is always a great solution to the problem of heat. It doesn’t always have to be a lake, a river, a sea or on ocean.

There are places in the world that are landlocked and the only answer they have for days like these is taking a nice swim at the backyard pool. A more interesting approach to the problem is, of course, the garden hose. The water coming from it can be freezing cold, so it maintains the balance between the heat and the cold. Regardless of our whereabouts, humans are always inventive when it comes to a certain problem, especially if it’s a tough one.

We said that many animals can’t stand the heat of the hot summer days. There are the domestic ducks that generally handle summertime fairly well, as long as they have plenty of shade and water. However in excessive heat, ducks, and more specifically ducklings, can show signs over overheating such as panting, holding their wings out from their bodies or droopy wings, standing or sitting with their eyes closed, or laying on their side not moving. A reason more to to take an extra care of the ducks hopping around your yard. It is exactly what Keke, the duck in this video, is going through. "Every day, Keke the duck goes to the front of the yard, picking up little animals on the ground and eating the little plants and walking on the sidewalk. He also loves water and that day we discovered that he loves to play with a water hose." - says Keke’s owner.

The experience of having a torrential hose flow all over his body, will stick with him for good and we are sure that Keke will crave for more in the days to come. First of all, it’s funny, just take a look at Keke’s happy feet when he feels the cold water on his body. He is so happy, he doesn’t know what t do with it, so he “shreds” the water with his beak multiple times in succession. As the water spreads all over his body, Keke apparently tries to escape the range of the water hose, but he likes the feeling of being refreshed in a sunny weather. So he repeats his “shredding” action with his beak while he approaches the hose the owner is holding, where the flow becomes thicker and heavier. Now, Keke can actually taste a great portion of water in his beak and when it’s enough he moves away. Then, the water follies start all over again. That’s is how Keke refreshes himself in summer and gains fame on the Internet.
