64. Epilogue to Mark's Gospel

The abrupt conclusion of the Gospel of Mark seemed troubling to early readers, which may have prompted the writing of alternative endings that not only gave a more complete account of the resurrection, but also inserted encouragement to Christian readers of the early 2nd century.
