Chasing the Metro North Holiday Lights Train on the Hudson & Harlem lines! Featuring tons of trains!

Recorded on 11/30/24. This year, the Metro North Railroad created a Holiday Lights Train with one of their sets of Kawasaki M8 EMU trains. These M8 trains normally only operate on the New Haven Line since they have the necessary capabilities of operating with overhead electricity which is the power source of only the New Haven Line. Usually there is no need for these trains on the Harlem and Hudson lines which utilize third rail. However, the Metro North Railroad wanted to operate a Holiday special on all three divisions with a single train, so they chose the M8 for this task.

This left railfans with a rare opportunity to not only see a festive Christmas train, but also have an opportunity to see an M8 run on the other two divisions which is very rare! Once I had confirmation of where this train was operating at, I naturally had to go see it myself! I spent the day on the rails chasing this train! This video also consists of all the trains I caught at all of the Stations I was at on the Hudson and Harlem lines as well, which is why this video is very long lol! It was a grand day out for railfanning! This is a special railfanning video you do not want to miss! The entire day out was well worth it! Enjoy!
