Endometriosis Pain Relief

I am writing this because I promised God that if he would take the pain away, I would tell other women what helped me. "Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" Hebrews 11:1, I held onto this verse. For ten years, I went to a different doctor each year, 10 doctors, 10 years. Each of them advised me to have a hysterectomy but instead I kept on praying. I prayed to be relieved of the pain, pain so bad it would bring me to tears. "Lord, this isn't how I want to live, please take this pain away", I cannot tell you how many times I uttered those words. I was in pain two weeks out the month, one-week average pain right before my period, during my period the pain was horrific and the week after I was drained and recovering from the pain the weeks before - 3 weeks each month like clockwork - pain, horrific pain, drained. The flow was so heavy I had to use tampons, maxi pads and Depends all together to prevent leaks on my clothes and bedding. At first, I was prescribed strong pain medications ie Percocet's and Vicodin which I hated taking because they made me depressed, they are bad for my kidneys and eventually each doctor refused to prescribe them to me, and started to push me to have the hysterectomy. I tried a few different birth control pills, but all they did was give me hot flashes, acne and made me gain weight. Every time the doctor said hysterectomy, I found a new doctor, who would eventually say the same thing - hysterectomy. I started to do my own research and learned about Dead Sea Salt. There are many benefits to using dead sea salt, one of them is pain relief. I would use 2 cups full in a very hot bath, this would bring me some relief but the pain was still bad. I noticed when I bathed in the sea salt that the pain was still there, but at least I could sit up, it really helped me to get through the night. Before I went to bed, I would make my bath water as hot as I could stand it, put two cups of the sea salt in my bath water and soak as long as I could, this was the only way I could get some sleep, otherwise the pain would keep me awake.

One day, I went to a dermatologist for acne and was prescribed Spironolactone. Spironolactone was initially used to treat people with high blood pressure and one of the side effects is that it cures acne. Not only did this drug produce results for my acne, my breast got a little bigger and my hair seemed to grow, what a great drug! I immediately noticed that my period was not as painful! Wait, the week before my period, I was not in pain and eventually I could actually get through my period without crying, the pain was bad, not horrific, just bad the second week and I used over the counter medicine like Advil to relive the pain. I did not need the prescription pain pills any longer, two Advil did the trick for me. I was not completely pain free but I could function like a normal person. Spironolactone did eventually have a side effect after 5 years of using it, but by the time I stopped using Spironolactone I was close to menopause.

Menopause finally came and I no longer have to deal with having periods, there are a many great things that come with getting older, and not having periods is one of them.
