THE GIACOMINO NICOLAZZO PODCAST. A DIFFERENT CHRISTMAS STORY. PART 5

MEMENTO MORI is a philosophical reminder of the inevitable nature of death. In Latin, the words translate to...remember that you will die. It is MEMENTO MORI that I’ve chosen for the title of our last podcast segment. As this podcast evolves, my reasoning will become clear. You may think it has nothing to do with THE CHRISTMAS STORY...but it does.

Research shows that when we are reminded that a pleasurable experience will soon come to an end, we feel more grateful for the time we have left and take more action to make the most of it. When it comes to situations that have a definite expiration date, reminding ourselves that they won’t last can spur us to engage in the experience more fully...to stay present and feel thankful, really savoring each moment we have left.

We are told that the universe is expanding, and everything in it is growing farther and farther apart. As it does so, it grows colder, and its energy is used up. Eventually all the stars will burn out and all matter will collapse into black holes. There will be no light. There will be no heat. There will be no life. Only the corpses of dead stars and galaxies, ever expanding into the endless darkness and the cold recesses of space...a universe in ruins.

If this is true, which it no doubt is, the entire human race is doomed. There is no escape. There is no hope. I don’t know about you, but for me...knowing these undeniably true facts, puts the whole concept of the Christmas Story into question...for God so loved the world that he sent his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Food for thought...indeed!!!
