** This song, "The Right Hand Blues," brings the powerful words of Psalm 110 to life through the deep, soulful strains of the blues. Written by David, this psalm is one of the most quoted passages in the New Testament, revealing a prophetic vision of the Messiah's eternal kingship and priesthood. David, inspired by the Spirit of Yahweh, foresaw the reign of the Lord's anointed-Jesus Christ-who would sit at God's right hand, rule over His enemies, and serve as the ultimate priest in the order of Melchizedek.

Psalm 110 encapsulates themes of divine authority, victory over evil, and the eternal priesthood, which resonate deeply through the blues' raw, emotive storytelling. This song seeks to honor the text while giving it a modern voice to inspire reflection and awe.

** Original Text (World English Bible):

A Psalm by David.
1 Yahweh says to my Lord,
"Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet."

2 Yahweh will send out the rod of your strength out of Zion.
Rule among your enemies.

3 Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power,
in holy array.
Out of the womb of the morning,
you have the dew of your youth.

4 Yahweh has sworn, and will not change his mind:
"You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek."

5 The Lord is at your right hand.
He will crush kings in the day of his wrath.

6 He will judge among the nations.
He will heap up dead bodies.
He will crush the ruler of the whole earth.

7 He will drink of the brook on the way;
therefore he will lift up his head.

** Psalm 110: The Right Hand Blues Lyrics:

[Verse 1]
Yahweh said to my Lord,
"Sit at my right hand,
Until I make your enemies
A footstool where they stand."
Oh, the rod of your strength
Gonna rise out of Zion land.

[Verse 2]
Rule among your enemies,
Your people rise willingly,
In the day of your power,
Clothed in holy majesty.
Out of the womb of the morning,
The dew of youth runs free.

[Chorus]
Oh, Yahweh swore and will not lie,
"You're a priest forever, high and nigh,
In the order of Melchizedek,
Your name, eternal, won't ever die."

[Verse 3]
The Lord is at your right hand,
Crushing kings in wrath's hard day.
He will judge the nations,
Heap their dead where they lay.
The ruler of the whole earth,
Will tremble at His sway.

[Bridge]
He drinks from the brook,
On the path He goes.
Lifts up His head,
Victory in the flows.
He's the King of Kings,
And every nation knows.

[Chorus]
Oh, Yahweh swore and will not lie,
"You're a priest forever, high and nigh,
In the order of Melchizedek,
Your name, eternal, won't ever die."

[Outro]
Yahweh said to my Lord,
"Sit at my right hand,
Until your enemies fall,
Beneath the power I command."
