Conservative MP Andrew Scheer accused Liberal MP Francesco Sorbara for making a "very vulgar and rude gesture" — "giving the middle finger to this side of the House."

"I seem to be living rent-free in the heads of many Conservative members!" said Sorbara during Wednesday's Question Period.

"I did not do anything vulgar."

"I lifted my finger to give the script to the page."

Conservative MP Luc Berthold stood and said he "saw the gesture in question with (his) own eyes."

House Speaker Greg Fergus said, "I heard the point of order."

"The chair presumes the honourable nature of all members. That said, the chair will look into the matter and watch the camera feed," said Fergus.

"I will bring this up again if necessary."

Berthold responded he finds it "unacceptable" that the Speaker would "cast doubt" on his claim.
