ANDREESSEN: "That was direct interference and it was aided and abetted by a lot of former intelligence officials and by the current administration...

I think anybody in social media and at the internet companies knew it. It was pretty widely understood. What was happening in the Twitter files was happening at all the other companies as well. The new administration will probably carve all the other social media companies open as well.

The Biden White House was directly exerting censorship pressure on American companies to censor American citizens. I think this is flatly illegal and is subject to criminal charges. Congress was also doing the same thing, also illegal.

Third party groups also brought pressure down on censorship. For example, Stanford has an internet censorship unit that is funded by the US Government. Harvard also has a censorship unit.

I believe the Trump administration will carve a lot of this open and they are determined to do it."
