Wim Hof on the controversy surrounding him: allegations of domestic violence, the lawsuit against de Volkskrant (newspaper), the suicide of his wife, and the love for his son Noah, whom he hasn’t seen since…

On November 27, the lawsuit filed by Wim Hof and his four children against de Volkskrant for defamation and libel will be heard. The case stems from an article about domestic violence published on September 28 by journalists Anneke Stoffelen and Robert van de Griend. In the article, Hof’s ex-partner Caroline Hak and their son Noah (22) accuse him of serious misconduct, alleging that Wim physically and psychologically abused them during their relationship. Hof vehemently denies these accusations and is taking the matter to court. Meanwhile, the "trial by media" mechanism is already in full swing. For instance, production on a planned biographical Hollywood film about Hof’s life has been halted, and international media are uncritically echoing de Volkskrant's story.

Blckbx founder Flavio Pasquino speaks to the world-famous Iceman about this highly sensitive matter, which has so far been portrayed from only one perspective. De Volkskrant has made it clear, even in their own podcast ‘de Volkskrant Elke Dag’, hosted by editor-in-chief Pieter Klok, that they are unbothered by this lack of balance. During the podcast, Robert van de Griend (one of the article's authors) tells his editor-in-chief, “It would really be a colossal mistake to pretend this is a story with two sides. That’s usually the case. But in this instance, it really isn’t.”
