Car Rear Ends 18 Wheeler, SODA, November 26, 2024 - At approximately 1:14 pm on November 26, 2024, the driver of an 18 wheeler was west-bound on US-190 East when he was slammed from behind by a gray 2021 Ford Mustang driven by Thomas Moody, 23, of Livingston. It appears that Moody was distracted and at the last second noticed he was about to rear end the 18 wheeler, so he cut right and still struck the rear passenger's side. Moody's vehicle caught fire. Sergeant Rey Davalos with the Polk County Sheriff's Office was quickly on the scene and was able to help Moody from his burning vehicle and get Moody safely away. Deputy Dylan Dickerson applied first aid to Moody's cuts from the accident and kept him stable while waiting for ambulance service. Livingston Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene along with Allegiance Ambulance Service and Trooper Nick Hatton with the Texas Highway Patrol. The 18 wheeler driver, Thomas Hill, 52, of Conroe, was physically okay. Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Moody is facing a citation for failure to control speed. Moody's vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker Service out of Livingston. Hill drove his 18 wheeler from the scene.
