Adoration, Surrender, and the Hundredfold Reward
Tonight, we reflect on the power of adoration, the beauty of surrendering ourselves entirely to God through Our Lady, and the promises of Christ for those who renounce all for love of Him.
1. Adoration: A Humble Response to God's Majesty
St. Patrick, the Apostle of Ireland, begins his Lorica prayer with a profound declaration:
“God, my God, omnipotent King, I humbly adore thee.”
This simple yet powerful prayer reminds us that our first response to God must always be one of adoration. To adore is to acknowledge God's infinite majesty, omnipotence, and goodness while humbly recognizing our dependence on Him.
Adoration is at the heart of the Mass, where we come before Christ truly present in the Eucharist, offering our love and worship. It is also essential in our private prayer lives. Do we begin our prayers by acknowledging God as King, as St. Patrick did? Or do we rush to our petitions, forgetting to adore the One who holds all things in His hands?

St. Louis de Montfort speaks to the profound spiritual act of giving everything to Jesus through the hands of His Blessed Mother:
“Our good Jesus gives us this great grace in recompense for the heroic and disinterested action of giving over to Him, by the hands of His holy Mother, all the value of our good works.”
This teaching is central to true Marian devotion. St. Louis invites us to consecrate not only our lives but even the spiritual benefits of our good actions. This surrender frees us from any lingering self-interest, making our offering entirely pleasing to God.
Through Our Lady, we offer not just external sacrifices but the deeper sacrifice of our wills. Mary, the perfect disciple, knows how to present our gifts to Jesus in a way that magnifies their value, just as she magnified His glory through her Fiat.

St. Louis de Montfort continues:
“If He gives a hundredfold even in this world to those who, for His love, quit outward and temporal and perishable goods, what will that hundredfold be which He will give to the man who sacrifices for Him even his inward and spiritual goods!”
This promise echoes Christ’s words in Matthew 19:29:
“And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for My name’s sake will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.”
What does this mean for us practically? It means that the sacrifices we make, whether visible or hidden, bear eternal fruit. By surrendering even the credit for our good works, we open our souls to receive the fullness of God’s grace, a grace that transforms and sanctifies us.
Consider the saints who lived this reality St. Patrick enduring exile and hardship to spread the Gospel, or St. Louis de Montfort tirelessly preaching Marian devotion. Their sacrifices bore spiritual rewards not only for themselves but for countless souls brought to Christ through their witness.

Heavenly Father,
