Interview with ROBERTO NUZZO:

In June 2024, Maurizio Michele Blo, president of the Comitato Nazionale Moratoria Geoingegneria, submitted a petition with over 10,000 signatures to the Italian government. The petition calls for a ban on all geoengineering techniques, both civilian and military, specifically mentioning cloud seeding and Solar Radiation Management (SRM).

The petition was addressed to the Prime Minister, the Presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, and the Minister of Environment and Energy Security. It references United Nations resolutions from 2010 and 2016, as well as recent legislation from the United States and other countries, to support its call for a moratorium on geoengineering activities.

The petition highlights concerns about the potential environmental and social impacts of geoengineering techniques, emphasizing the need for precaution and further study before their implementation.

As of November 25, 2024, there have been no official responses from the Italian government regarding this petition. The status of any legislative action or discussions related to the proposed moratorium remains unclear.
