Polish pilots contribution to the RAF

For those of you that don't know the story, as the Nazi war machine rolled across Europe swallowing country after country, many escaping allied troops landed in Britain. Many were battle hardened and expert East Europeans, like Czechs and Poles.

We see here, how Polish fighter pilots did so much, particularly in the 'Battle of Britain' in 1940, when the UK stood alone against the Nazi onslaught. How well they performed, far outstripping their British RAF counterparts, and can bee seen in places like the 1969 film the 'Battle of Britain' how when the RAF had more fighter planes than pilots, reluctantly released East European pilots, who just smashed into the Luftwaffe and a new film 'Hurricane' aims to redress some of this little known story outside of history or those interested in this sort of thing (like myself).

And how sadly after the war was won, many East Europeans military personnel could not return home as Stalin's USSR now controlled their former countries and how they were almost forgotten or worse and who couldn't then go home, like the Czech and Polish pilots who flew with the RAF.

Many nations fought came together in the RAF to fight against Germany in Europe and many paid the ultimate price and they came from many nations, from all around the world, even neutral countries.

Here, this story is testament to the those brave men who not just saved a nation, but the whole world and hopefully items and films like this helps us remember, what they achieved for us, today.
