DAC: Unveiling the Real Truths They Don’t Want Told
Welcome to another unfiltered episode of Da Urban Conservative, where we hit you with the truths no one else wants to talk about. No sugar-coating, no polite tip-toeing around the issues. Today, we’re diving into stories that expose the raw underbelly of our history, our communities, and our responsibilities. Let’s get into it.
The Massacre They Don’t Teach You About
“Let’s start with a piece of history buried under layers of forgotten stories and willful ignorance: the Negro Fort. Y’all ever heard of it? Nah, probably not, because the system ain’t trying to teach us about the truths of Black resistance.
Back in the early 1800s, after the War of 1812, the British Royal Marines left Georgia and settled along the Spanish-controlled Apalachicola River. They set up what came to be known as Negro Fort—freedom’s stronghold for escaped enslaved Africans and Indigenous allies. But let me tell you, freedom is always seen as a threat by oppressors.
The U.S. saw that fort as a problem. It wasn’t just a fortress; it was a symbol of rebellion, strength, and unity. In 1816, they bombarded it, killing nearly 300 Black men, women, and children. A massacre—straight up genocide. It’s not just history; it’s a mirror reflecting how America responds to Black autonomy and power.
What they don’t want you to know is how this country’s foundations are built on suppressing resistance. We gotta remember stories like this because if we don’t, they’ll keep burying them like they buried those bodies.
Minnesota’s Misplaced Millions
Now let’s bring it back to the present, Minnesota-style. Did you know this state is spending millions of dollars shipping our troubled youth out of state for care? Millions. Meanwhile, our communities are crying out for resources to support these kids right here.
What’s wild is these facilities out of state? They’re not some state-of-the-art havens for healing. Some of them are straight-up shady—abuse allegations, neglect, kids coming back worse than they left. It’s a broken system chewing up our youth and spitting them out.
Instead of building infrastructure here—mental health support, schools with actual funding, community programs—they’re outsourcing care and leaving families scrambling. It’s not about fixing the problem; it’s about keeping it out of sight and out of mind. We gotta ask ourselves: who’s really profiting from this mess?
Food Shelves Overflowing While Families Are Starving
This year, Minnesota is breaking records—but not the kind we should celebrate. Food shelf visits are at an all-time high, and with the holidays coming up, it’s about to get worse. Families are lining up, desperate for basic necessities.
And let’s keep it real: this ain’t just about inflation. This is about a system that keeps squeezing the working class while the rich keep stacking their chips. Folks working two or three jobs shouldn’t be wondering where their next meal is coming from. But that’s exactly what’s happening.
We love to talk about community spirit during the holidays, but where’s that same energy the rest of the year? Charity ain’t the solution—it’s a Band-Aid on a bullet wound. The system is rigged to keep people struggling, and until we address that, the cycle continues.
Rochester Chaos & Community Leadership
Rochester’s been on fire lately, and I’m not talking about anything good. A weekend filled with chaos—shots fired, people running scared. But amidst all that, the Rochester NAACP hosted a town hall, calling for ‘community upstanders.’
Y’all know what an upstander is? It’s someone who sees something wrong and does something about it. Not just standing on the sidelines recording for clout—actually stepping in to make change.
But let’s be real: how do we expect upstanders to rise when communities don’t have the tools to succeed? When neighborhoods are ignored, over-policed, and underfunded? This isn’t just about individuals stepping up—it’s about systems stepping in to invest in the people they’re supposed to serve.
The question is, are we ready to be the upstanders our communities need, or are we content to let the chaos roll on?
So there you have it, y’all. The hidden massacres of our history, the misplaced priorities of our systems, and the resilience—or chaos—of our communities. This ain’t about being woke. This is about staying awake. Staying vigilant.
Until next time, keep questioning, keep pushing, and most of all, keep showing up. This is Da Urban Conservative, signing off. Stay real.
