Blue Lies Matter

Posted • November 25, 2024: For a decade, Donald Trump was literally Hitler, an insurrectionist, an existential threat to not only our freedoms but democracy itself. To that end, the Left -- from the Democratic Party to the media -- made it very clear there wasn't a norm, a Constitutional right, a law, or ethical standard they wouldn't completely eschew or burn to the ground in order to stop Trump. Their rhetoric was so inflammatory that not one but two unhinged Leftists tried to assassinate Donald Trump. That's the only logical conclusion one can draw when the target is the reincarnation of Adolf, after all. But that rhetoric didn't work. Voters didn't buy what the Left was selling, largely because we had four years of the first Trump term as proof he wasn't going to throw gays in concentration camps (remember when that was a thing?) and that the guy wasn't Hitler -- literally or otherwise.

All of that was lies. Absolute lies. How do we know that? Well: WH press sec Karine Jean-Pierre on why Biden has not called Trump an "existential threat" recently: “We are now in a different place.” Look, the fact they're kinda, sorta moving into the 'acceptance' stage of grief over the election is a good thing. It's how it always should have been. There will be another presidential election in four years, and the midterms in two. The balance of power might shift in their favor. The inflammatory rhetoric was off the charts and never, ever should've gotten as outrageous as it did. But that's a topic for another post.

On this? Well, they don't get to shrug off their decade of vitriol and just move on. They spent decades infusing politics into every aspect of our lives -- from television and movies to sports to our classrooms to even the food we eat -- and then spent decades (especially the last decade) telling us the Republican candidate for president is a dictator who will do awful, horrible things if elected. A not insignificant number of people believed them, because I've seen the posts from friends on social media: 'I can't believe so many of you chose hate.' - 'I'm getting my passports together and leaving the country.' - 'I don't feel safe here anymore.' - 'Hope you like saving 10 cents on eggs while women die from sepsis 'cause they couldn't get abortions!'

It's alarming. It's also the result of people like KJP telling voters for years that Trump is the embodiment of evil after making sure every single aspect of our lives is political. This is why we cannot allow them to simply wash their hands of the stuff they said over the last eight years, and especially during this last election cycle. People believed them, people who are now burning bridges with family and friends and fleeing the country because a Republican won the presidency. People who are having actual mental health crises because of this rhetoric. This goes beyond personal anecdotes, too. Earlier today, I told you about the Lefty who is leaving his elderly neighbor alone on Thanksgiving because the man 'voted for hate.' As awful as that example is, it's mild compared to some of the other things that have happened.

Rob Reiner checked himself into a facility for 'peace and relaxation' following the election. And it gets worse. Anthony Nephew, of Duluth, MN, killed himself and his family -- including his wife, his ex-wife, and his two sons -- after Donald Trump won the election. Prior to his crimes, he had told authorities 'voices' were telling him Donald Trump was going to take control and he needed to kill his family to 'protect them.' -- Social media influencer and Left-wing activist Corey Burke killed her father on election night in what she called an 'act of liberation' following Trump's victory. The Left -- who have no qualms about demonizing every gun owner when some Left-wing loon goes on a shooting spree -- have blood on their hands. They are responsible, in part, for the fragile mental health of so many Americans and for the death and destruction their rhetoric has wrought.

We are not in a 'different place' now, KJP. We're in the place we always should have been: one where a majority of voters no longer buy the garbage you're shoveling about Donald Trump. The problem is, there are still many who did buy it, and they're hurting themselves and others. You don't get to walk away from that.
