Missing Child Found Dead

A 4-year-old boy named Waylon Childs, who had autism and was nonverbal, went missing while playing with his siblings at Central Park in Ormond Beach. His father immediately called 911, fearing Waylon had wandered into the nearby lake. An exhaustive search by multiple law enforcement agencies and the Volusia County dive team ensued, and sadly, Waylon's body was recovered from the water around 9 p.m. on Sunday night. Authorities have ruled out foul play, concluding that Waylon likely got away from his dad. The family is now advocating for park safety measures, such as fencing, to prevent similar tragedies in the future, and a candlelight vigil was held in Waylon's honor.
