Thanksgiving is a Reflection

By Pastor Gary Wayne

Text: Psalms 100

Giving thanks is so much more than just saying the words “thank you.”
Thanksgiving is a reflection of the heart.
It carries with it spiritual principals that have the power to change the atmosphere and the world around us.

2Co 10:3-4 “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”
How does someone use the weapon of Thanksgiving to war against the enemy?

If you were to instruct another Christian about the importance of being thankful, what would you say?

Heb.13:15 “…let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.”
Psa.107:22 “Let them sacrifice the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing.”
Ps.116:17 “I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving …”

When is it actually a sacrifice to give thanks?

Gen.3:13"…the serpent deceived me, and I ate."
One of the meanings for the word “deceived” is “caused me to forget.”
One of the enemy’s tactics to get us to slip into an unbelieving, complaining heart is cause us to forget the goodness of God.

What causes a thankful person’s heart to stop living from thankfulness?

If thanksgiving a fruit that comes from a heart of faith, where do murmuring and complaining come from?

If I offer thanks, who am I siding with?
What about when I mummer and complain?

Let’s take a moment and give Him some sentence prayers of Thanksgiving.
