In 1983, about 4 months before his death, Georgia Congressman (D) Larry McDonald was interviewed on CNN's "Crossfire" with former CIA official Tom Braden and American political commentator Pat Buchanan. He was badgered for his commentary on the emerging World Government and his new chairman role of the John Birch Society.

Larry McDonald, the U.S. Representative from Georgia’s 7th congressional district, died on September 1, 1983, at the age of 48. He was a passenger on board Korean Air Lines Flight 007 (KAL007), which was shot down by Soviet interceptors while flying over the Soviet Union.
