Don't Let Bad Tire Tread Cost You THOUSANDS! Quick Tire Safety Hack
Hi, In this video I will show you how to check your tire tread. You can easily check your tire tread depth using a coin to ensure it's within a safe range. Here's how you can do it with either a U.S. penny or a quarter:
Using a Penny:
1. Grab a penny and hold it so that Lincoln's head is facing down.
2. Insert the penny into the tread groove.
3. Observe the tread depth:
o If you can see the top of Lincoln's head, your tread is below 2/32 of an inch, meaning the tire needs to be replaced immediately.
o If part of Lincoln's head is covered, your tire tread is still safe, but it’s a good idea to check the wear periodically.
Using a Quarter:
1. Grab a quarter and hold it with Washington’s head facing down.
2. Insert the quarter into the tread groove.
3. Observe the tread depth:
o If you can see the top of Washington’s head, your tread depth is below 4/32 of an inch. It’s time to consider replacing the tire soon, especially if you often drive in wet conditions.
o If Washington’s head is partially covered, your tread depth is in a safer range.
For best results, check the tread depth at several points around each tire.
