On the 17th of January, 1961, in the Oval Office, Dwight D Eisenhower gave his first of 3 farewell addresses to the nation before turning over power to JFK. He spent the bulk of this first farewell warning Americans of the dangers of the Military Industrial Complex, and how it's purpose, the perpetuation of war, is the opposite for which it was first created, to avoid war.
