The Prodigal Nation

This is one of the most beautiful stories in all of the Bible. It is a story of unfailing love, hope and redemption. It is the story of God's people.

Just as the prodigal was given his inheritance but then got as far away as he could from his father, we also, as God's Israel people, have been extremely blessed by God throughout history, but have now wandered far away from our Heavenly Father. Just as the prodigal wasted his inheritance on riotous living and found himself in ruin, so we, in our bounty, have ruined ourselves with every manner of debauchery imaginable.

“O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.” Hosea 13:9

Just as the prodigal determined to return to his father, so we MUST return to God our Father. For when we do, our Heavenly Father will rejoice and will restore us and heal our land.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
