Orpheus and Eurydice (Song)

The tale of Orpheus and Eurydice is a haunting story of love, trust, and heartbreak. Orpheus, a mortal gifted with divine musical talent, falls deeply in love with Eurydice, a woman of great beauty and purity. Their happiness is shattered when Eurydice, while fleeing from those with ill intentions, is bitten by a venomous snake and dies. Stricken with grief, Orpheus descends into the Underworld, where his music moves even Hades and Persephone. They grant him the chance to bring Eurydice back, but only if he does not look back at her until they leave the Underworld.

As doubt and fear cloud his heart, Orpheus turns to look just before reaching safety, losing Eurydice forever. Devastated by this loss and what he perceives as the cruelty of the gods, Orpheus loses faith in divine justice. His songs, once filled with hope and beauty, become laments of sorrow and despair.
