REVIEWING EACH CAMPSITE @ Barlow Creek Campground (FREE CAMPING HACK!) | Mount Hood NF | Oregon | 4K
In Mount Hood National Forest in Oregon, the Barlow Road area, accessible from NF 43, is one of the BEST, MOST PREMIUM, FREE Dispersed Backcountry Camping Zones in all of Mount Hood National Forest and in Oregon itself and is a very well kept hidden secret!!!!!!! The South Zone is Shoreline of National Wild & Scenic White River, and the North Zone is Shoreline of meandering Barlow Creek!
I have identified 32 FREE Dispersed Backcountry Campsites both North and South of NF 43 on Barlow Road:
Heading North from NF 43 is Barlow Crossing Campground (currently mothballed and FREE), a series of FREE Dispersed Backcountry Campsites Shoreline of Barlow Creek, and Barlow Creek Campground (currently mothballed and FREE as well), totaling 18 FREE Dispersed Backcountry Campsites in this North Zone from NF 43 on Barlow Road. PLEASE NOTE - I stopped my exploration/analysis after Barlow Creek Campground as it seemed like the natural border of the area I was exploring - there is more Camping a bit further up Barlow Road not identified or explored in this analysis/Playlist, this Playlist only covers from Barlow Creek Campground to White River Station Campground (and a little beyond it). *This Video identifies, numbers and explores ALL 18 of these FREE Dispersed Backcountry Campsites!*
Here is the Video of those 18 FREE Dispersed Backcountry Campsites:

Heading South from NF 43 towards White River Station Campground (and a little beyond it), there are 11 FREE Dispersed Backcountry Campsites as well as the 3 Picnic Sites @ White River Station Campground - a currently non-operational mothballed defunct FREE Campground (as of 2024, may change in the future), totaling 14 FREE Dispersed Backcountry Campsites in the South Zone from NF 43 on Barlow Road. The Forest Road turns away from White River at that point and goes up into the Forest, so its the end of the line of that White River Zone section.
Here is the Video of those 14 FREE Dispersed Backcountry Campsites:

Combining the South & North Zones of Barlow Road = 18 + 14 = 32 FREE Dispersed Backcountry Campsites on Barlow Road in the range from Barlow Creek Campground in the North to White River Station Campground (and a little beyond it) in the South. Because of the complexity of trying to keep track of 32 unmarked, unnamed Campsites, I have created my own arbitrary numbering system taking a very methodical approach for ease of use and reference, otherwise its hard to even talk about any specific Campsite without using "you know, that one next to that big tree" type ambiguous references. Personally, I fell in love with this area and I believe it to be one of the highest quality FREE Dispersed Backcountry Campsite Zones in the entire State of Oregon and a truly hidden gem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
