MSNBC Host Blames Vaccines For Autism

Joe Scarborough agreed with Robert F. Kennedy Jr's stating that, vaccines causing autism in a 2005 interview that reemerged as Scarborough attempts to make peace with RFK Jr's new boss Donald Trump.

Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski revealed they visited president-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago over the weekend, squashing a beef between the former friends dating back to his first term in office.

Some on the right have accused the first family of MSNBC of hypocrisy and using RFK Jr., for ratings.

One of Kennedy's long-running health claims is that many vaccines aren't safe. He has previously stated that no jab is 'effective' and suggested childhood vaccines could be driving rising autism rates.

In 2005, Kennedy appeared on Morning Joe and found little between himself and the former Republican host on the subject, as Scarborough has a son with Asperger's syndrome.

Kennedy brought up thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative used in some childhood vaccines and both agreed that it will have proved to cause autism in children.

'You can't prove it, but, intuitively, you look at the spike. You look at what happened with thimerosal,' Scarborough says.

'There's no doubt in my mind—maybe it's two years from now. Maybe it's five years from now. Maybe it's 10 years from now. We are going to find out thimerosal causes, in my opinion, autism.'

Kennedy posited that increases in autism happened beginning in 1989, when children started to be given more vaccines that contained thimerosal.

'Almost immediately after it was put in, autism cases began to appear. Autism had never been known before. It was unknown to science. Then the vaccines were increased in 1989 by the CDC and by a couple of other government agencies,' Kennedy says.

Scarborough finishes the interview by saying 'I want you to—if you can come back, we need to talk more about this.'

He then accidentally predicts the future, adding: 'Let's get you running for a public office. I will defend your honor whenever any Republican says anything nasty.'
