Connor McGovern, the New Orleans Saints’ center, is not only making a name for himself on the football field but also carries a rich legacy in the potato industry. Hailing from North Dakota, McGovern is the heir to a $500 million potato empire that significantly contributes to the global potato supply chain.

McGovern’s grandfather, Ron Offutt, is a fourth-generation farmer renowned for cultivating more potatoes than anyone else in the world. This vast operation, known as RD Offutt Farms, has established itself as a major supplier of frozen french fries for a range of fast-food chains, including McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Raising Cane’s, Frito-Lay chips, and Idahoan Instant Mashed Potatoes.

Despite the substantial family business, McGovern chose to pursue a career in professional football. Standing at 6 feet 4 inches, he played college football at Missouri before being drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

His decision to follow his passion for football, rather than joining the family enterprise, highlights his dedication to the sport
