The Tupolev Tu-214 aircraft, used as a flight laboratory, has started a flight test program with new Russian components.
This was announced by Konstantin Timofeev, First Deputy General Director of UAC, CEO of Tupolev JSC.

Today the aircraft took off for the first time after import substitution.

The flight took place at the airfield of the Kazan Aviation Plant named after S.P. Gorbunov - a branch of Tupolev JSC and lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes.

The aircraft was piloted by the crew of Tupolev JSC.

The necessary checks of the systems and on-board equipment were carried out. According to the crew, the flight mission was completed in full.

"On the basis of this aircraft, we will continue flight tests, further modernization and development of the Tu-214 platform, including the creation of a two-person cockpit," Konstantin Timofeev emphasized.

Recall that the Tu-214 aircraft with tail number 64509 has been operated by Transaero Airlines since 2007. In 2015, it stopped flying and remained in storage. In June 2024, after being restored to airworthiness, the aircraft took to the air again. In July, the flight laboratory was sent to the Minsk Civil Aviation Plant No. 407 to be painted in a new livery in accordance with the corporate style of the UAC. After painting, the aircraft returned to the Kazan enterprise for further modernization.
