In the US, a killer escaped from an interrogation room by punching the wall with his feet: before that, he confessed how he massacred his family.

Adlai Mestre, 24, shot his father, mother, sister and dog and took the bodies to a ravine. He explained that he killed the dog because of its excessive "voraciousness".

Mestre was caught near the station, where escape from custody was added to the murder charges. Police suspect mental health problems and are awaiting the results of a medical examination.
