UK Farmers Protest in London: 19th November 2024 - Part 1

The start point was advertised as being on Richmond Terrace, behind Whitehall and next to Scotland Yard. The advert said there was more room here than at Trafalgar Square. I would beg to differ on that point. The police told us to go around to the other side as that's where the speakers were.
It was a very wet and very cold day, but the turnout was very good, particularly as the people who work in this area can't easily take the time out to do this sort of thing. Animals have to be looked after whatever happens, so it was impressive to see so many in attendance. Estimates of numbers are somewhere between 20 and 35,000.
Since I couldn't get near to the stage where the speakers were, I decided to walk through the crowd as best I could (not easy at all, it was packed) and record the people who had come instead.

I have to confess, I didn't read the Labour Party manifesto before the election, but I did talk to someone who did. I asked them what it said about agriculture and the farming industry. He said nothing. There was nothing in it at all about their plans for farming. I guess now we know why...
