Recommending Jesus Like Facial Cream

In Matthew 28:19, Jesus gives us the great commission..."Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

How do we take on that mantle which Christ has given us? How do we spread the gospel - the good news of Christ, the Savior of the world?

First, we must rely on the power of the Holy Spirit. We read in 1 Corinthians 2:12-13,
"What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words."

The Holy Spirit will give us the words we need. We only need to ask God for that wisdom to be imparted to us as we read in James 1:5,

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."

Second, we don't have to "sell" Christ or the good news. We're not salespeople. Instead, we are testifiers. In Acts 1:8, Jesus tells us that we are His witnesses. What is a witness? It is someone who has knowledge from personal experience or observation.
So we only need to simply share our story about how Jesus has made a difference in our life, has impacted our life, has carried us through difficulties and has guided us to become who we are today.

In Mark 5:18-20, we read about Jesus instructing the man who was formerly demon-possessed,
[18] ...“Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” [20] So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed."

This Gentile man had no bible to share. He had no scriptures to share. He only had his experience with Jesus.

Like this Gentile man, we don't have to be biblical scholars. We may not know the exact scriptures to share or know any scriptures to share and that's okay.

Sharing the experiences we have had with Jesus is like recommending facial cream. We don't know the ingredients or how it was made, but we know the amazing results it had on our skin... minimizing our wrinkles and scars. We may not know scriptures to share, but we know the amazing results that Jesus had on our life... erasing the wrinkles and scars in our life.

Testifying as a witness, of all that the Lord has done for us, is how we can share Jesus and the good news!

Let us finish with the testifying words of David in Psalms 71:15-18,
"My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long— though I know not how to relate them all. [16] I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign Lord; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone. [17] Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. [18] Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come."
