1 Kings 12:16-33 - Israel Splits in Two

King Rehoboam made a big mistake:

-After harshly confronting the people, the Israelites rebel
-The northern tribes stone the tax collector
-Rehoboam flees for his life to Jerusalem, where he decides to start a war
-YHWH confronts Rehoboam
-Jeroboam becomes the king of the northern tribes, now the new state of
Israel
-Israel immediately falls into idolatry; the Levites leave
